What to check before you buy — written in the order that actually matters, not the order a spec sheet lists it in.

Best Embroidery Machine for a Small Business

Prioritize local parts and service availability over needle count at this stage — an idle machine costs you more than a slower one. A single-head, 9–15 needle computerized machine gives most new workshops enough capacity to test real orders before scaling into multi-head.

Best Embroidery Machine for Caps

You need a machine with a cap frame attachment and cylinder arm — most modern Tajima, Barudan and Happy multi-head models support this as an add-on. A loose or worn cap frame is the top cause of shifted logos, more often than the machine itself.

How Many Needles Do I Need?

9 needles covers most simple logo work with 1–4 colors. 12 needles handles moderate detail and common uniform/cap logos. 15 needles is for detailed, multi-color designs with frequent color changes. Buy for your typical design complexity, not the maximum available.

Do You Need Digitizing Software?

The machine only reads a finished stitch file (usually .DST) — digitizing software is how you turn artwork into that file. Many small operations start by buying pre-digitized designs or paying per file, and only invest in their own software once design volume justifies it.
